We outline a customer journey on how customers using the website would navigate around the website and finally convert. Then we create a data flow planning which is a process where our team defines the important business goals and events, tracking which will be useful for making crucial business decisions. This process gives us an overview of how to structure the data and their extraction from the website or the product.
In reference to the planned data flow our team will be tagging, creating goals and events on the website or product to extract data. Tagging includes the implementation of global tags, creating goals, default events that are relevant and custom dimensions and metrics. This is a process of about 1-2 business days depending on the number of pages in the website and the event that needs to be created.
Reports give us an overview and health of the website. We set up automated reports at a regular time frame to analyse the performance of the website which is sent to the email list provided. Dashboards are a collection of widgets that give us an overview of the reports and metrics we care about most. Dashboards let us monitor many metrics at once, so we can quickly check the health of the accounts or see correlations between different reports. This is also generally a 1-2 day process.
The Real-Time reports let us see current activity on the site. If the reports have data, then our snippet is collecting data and sending it to Analytics as expected. If we haven’t added the snippet to all pages on the site, we can check these reports to see whether the snippet is sending data from the pages we have tagged. This is only a one working day process.
